Your Nebraska Accountant
Forward-thinking accounting for small businesses that want clarity and peace of mind
You shouldn't have to chase down your own accountant.
You’re running a business, managing a team, doing what you do best. The last thing you need is to be cobbling together the books — or chasing down the person who’s supposed to handle it.
But that’s how it usually goes. You call, you wait. Tax season rolls around, and suddenly it’s “write a check by next week.” No projections. No communication.
You may be left in the dark with financial statements that don’t make sense. Or you could be second-guessing whether things are even set up right (and if it will come back to haunt you).
You care about your small business. You deserve accountants who do too.

Your Nebraska Accounting Team
Meet the Team
We’ve spent over 20 years working with small business owners, so we get it. The late nights, the financial uncertainty, the weight of all the decisions.
We built First Fruits because we believe you shouldn’t have to figure that out alone. Our team knows small business accounting inside and out, but what our clients notice first is that we learn your business, we ask the hard questions, and we’re invested in your success (not just your books).
"They're always thinking ahead and considering things we haven't even thought about. They want to be a part of this as much as we want them to be a part of it."

Frequently Asked Questions
What size businesses do you work with?
We work with small businesses in Nebraska, typically with 2 to 50 employees and $250K to $5 million in revenue.
Do I have to be in Nebraska?
We do accounting for Nebraska-based businesses. It's what we know best, from state tax requirements to the local business landscape.
Do you help with QuickBooks?
Absolutely. Whether you're starting from scratch or already have QuickBooks Online in place, we'll make sure it's set up, structured, and working the way it should for your business. That includes cleaning things up, streamlining your categories, integrating with other software, and keeping everything running smoothly over time.
Can you just help me file my tax return?
We don't offer standalone tax preparation, but there's a good reason for that. When we handle your bookkeeping throughout the year, tax season becomes a whole lot simpler. Everything is already in order, so there's nothing to scramble for at the last minute.
How much does it cost?
It depends on your business and what you need. We customize every engagement. Our services tend to make the most financial sense for businesses generating roughly $250K to $5 million in revenue, but we're happy to have a conversation and figure out what works for your situation.
Do I need more than just bookkeeping and tax filing?
It depends on where your business is and what you're trying to accomplish. Some businesses are in a good rhythm and mainly need reliable accounting (like clean books, on-time filings, and a clear financial picture). Others are working through decisions, navigating a transition, or trying to get more efficient and profitable. That's a different kind of engagement — one that involves more of our time, thinking, and strategic involvement. We figure out which makes sense in our first conversation together.
What does planning look like?
Every client starts with an initial tax projection and estimated payment setup, so you're not walking in blind. From there, tax planning happens annually as part of your return process. For clients who want deeper, ongoing support — like quarterly projections, profitability analysis, or strategic guidance — we offer a more involved strategic consulting engagement.
What does strategic consulting involve?
It looks different for every client. It could be guidance on a hiring decision, solving a cash flow challenge, improving efficiency, or figuring out the right next move. It's not always about big growth. Sometimes the most impactful work is small, creative steps toward profitability. This is a deeper engagement that involves more of our time and strategic thinking, and it's priced accordingly. We'll talk through whether it makes sense for you.
Can I start with just one service?
While we don't do standalone tax returns, we customize our accounting services for what you need. Don't need payroll? Totally fine. Not ready for strategic consulting? No problem. We'll build an engagement around what your business actually needs right now, and it can grow with you.
What if my needs change over time?
We expect them to. Your goals will shift, your business will evolve, and what you need from us will look different in two years than it does today. That's how it should work. Our engagement levels flex with you, so you're never locked into something that doesn't fit anymore.
What does getting started look like?
It starts with a conversation. We'll learn about your business, what you're dealing with, and what you're looking for. If we're both a good fit, onboarding typically takes a few weeks to get your books and systems set up. After that initial lift, things settle into a steady rhythm.
"We wouldn't be where we are as a business without them."
